Jaime Munguia will be allowed to resume his career after the BBBOFC and Ukad allegedly decided not to sanction him after his positive test for exogenous testosterone after his re -broadcast with Bruno Surace on May 3, 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Munguia’s 12-round unanimous victory over Surace (26-1-2, 5 COs) stands and will not be reversed. Former WBO junior middleweight champion Munguia (45-2, 35 COs) demanded his innocence, saying the positive test is the result of pollution or accidental intake of the prohibited substance.
Munguia’s path to legitimacy
There is no word from Team Munguia whether they will fight in a trilogy match in Surace. A third collision would be the logical move given the positive test. The certainty knocked Mungiaa out in the sixth round in their first fight on December 14, 2024 in Tijuana, Mexico. There was a re -broadcast to allow Jaime to try to avenge the loss. Getting Surace a chance to avenge his defeat would be the fair thing to do.

The setback of box fans
There was a minor setback of fans today, following the news that Munguia got the ‘green light’ to resume his career. The fans believe that Munguia should have been suspended and that his victory over Surace overturned and decided a no cash.
Munguia (28) is #2 WBC and #4 WBO on Super Middleweight. He is high enough that he can get another title if he can get one or two solid wins under his belt. Jaime lost against the then IBF, WBC and WBO 168-Pond Champion Canelo Alvarez with a unanimous 12-round decision on December 14, 2024.
Road to a title shot
The best way for Munguia to strengthen his position to get a quick title would be that he should fight these contenders at 168 pounds to earn the place:
- Christian Milli
- Diego Pacheco
- Hamzah sheeraz
- Osley Iglesias
