On Sunday at the LIV Golf Singapore 2026 event, Bryson DeChambeau ended a winless drought with a comeback victory in a playoff. But not without a little help from his playoff competitor.
That player, LIV Golf wild card Richard T. Leeshockingly missed a short putt that would have extended the playoff to another hole.
The brutal finish left DeChambeau with mixed feelings as he lifted his fourth individual LIV Golf trophy on Sunday at Sentosa Golf Club.
DeChambeau’s win at LIV Singapore started with a comeback
DeChambeau’s last LIV victory came in May of last year, when he triumphed at LIV Golf Korea with a three-round total of 19. This ended an even longer LIV winless drought for two-time US Open championdated September 2023.
This week’s event looked like it was Bryson’s to lose from the start. He led after the first and second rounds. But four bogeys on Day 3 gave DeChambeau a 72. By then he had lost his lead and went into Sunday’s final round one shot back. Joaquin Niemann AND Lee Westwood.

DeChambeau came out firing Sunday, laying in for eagle on the 4th hole and adding two more birdies before play was suspended due to inclement weather. Despite his hot start, which took him to 12 under, DeChambeau found himself further from the lead at the halfway point. two shots behind Niemann.
But Niemann made three bogeys to get home, while DeChambeau drained two more birdies, including one on the 18th hole, to get past him and reach 14.
One problem: Lee had birdied four of his last six holes, including the last two, to tie DeChambeau at 14. This forced a sudden death playoff.
And the playoffs couldn’t have started any worse for Bryson. He washed his ball on the par-5 18th, immediately putting his victory in doubt.
Lee, on the other hand, steadily hoisted a 10-foot birdie putt. Incredibly, DeChambeau was able to get up and down after losing his car in the water, giving him a level despite the penalty.
If Lee killed the middle bird, he would win. A textbook two-putt would extend the playoff to another hole. Then disaster struck.
Lee’s first attempt missed the hole by 2-3 feet. His putt dipped toward the hole and then bounced devastatingly.
TV cameras panned for DeChambeau. He had just won his fourth LIV Golf title, but all he could do was put his hands behind his head and register a look of shock at what had just happened.
Bryson’s ‘tremendous relief’ after wild playoff ends with victory
After his round, DeChambeau revealed his mixed feelings about the win, in light of the tough finish for his competitor Lee, who earned his LIV spot through the LIV Promotions event as he did Anthony Kim.
“Absolutely hated it for Richard (T. Lee). He’s been playing incredible golf. He’s beaten me in the few rounds I’ve played with him, and he’s a stellar player,” DeChambeau said Sunday afternoon. “I wanted to make another hole with him. While the win is great, I have a lot of respect for Richard and the way he golfs his ball out there.”
LIV’s biggest star he then heaped more praise on Lee, admitting that going into the field he thought his victory was already certain. Lee’s late charge changed him in a big way.

“It was pretty impressive; I’m coming down to the last three holes, like, okay, I think I’m one ahead of everybody, and to see Richard go and play the way he did finishing, he’s a real superstar and the league should be really proud to have him as a wild card,” DeChambeau said of Lee.
Bryson allowed himself to bask in the positives from his winning moment.
“It was huge for me, especially with the wet conditions and the thick blades and struggling with my wedges,” DeChambeau said. “But to do it was pretty memorable and — even hitting it in the water on the last playoff hole, G-Bo’s like, ‘Bryson, just go make a par, that’s all you can do.’ And we went and did it.”
When asked if he felt “relief” after securing the title, DeChambeau said yes. He also acknowledged that his win at LIV Singapore represented his first win in a four-round tournament since his 2024 US Open triumph at Pinehurst No. 2.
“Oh, tremendous relief,” DeChambeau admitted. “I haven’t won in four rounds since the 2024 US Open. Being able to go on a golf course like this that is super brutal and requires precision on every single shot, especially with the changing conditions, I couldn’t be happier for my team.”
Next stop for DeChambeau is LIV Golf South Africawhich starts next week. After that, the next circled tour on Bryson’s schedule is that Masters 2026 at Augusta National.
