Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) took the honors by 1.357s after a great performance in the Tissot Spritz as he charged for victory at the PT Grand Prix of Thailand. ‘The Beast’ took the lead on the opening lap, setting a steady and steady pace with George Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) having no chance of responding in second. It was a pivotal day in the championship race as Martin finished second and extended his championship lead by 22 points. The Italian failed to finish higher than third, with everything left to play for on Sunday.

Once the lights went out, Bagnaia made a fantastic start from pole position with a slight advantage going into Turn 1. However, Martin was attacked at Turn 1 before running wide on the inside and dropping to fifth. On the opening lap. #89 Bastianini rose to the lead after a strong start for ‘The Beast’, as was the case throughout the drama.

Martin put the hammer down and found a way through Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GAASGAS Tech3) on Lap 2 before setting his sights on Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™). After a textbook move on Marc Marquez in the final corner, Martin soon moved into the podium places.

Up front, Bastianini threw down the early gauntlet, stretching his lead to almost a second – setting his fastest lap in the process. The drama then began to unfold further back as Acosta’s hopes of a strong result were soon dashed after a crash in Turn 3 that later saw the #31 retire to Paylan.

Further back, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team’s Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giantantonio had their own battle. The Italians continued to battle in the Sprint as Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) began to drop down the order after moving up to P6 in the opening stages.

Martin followed his shadow and began to close in on the reigning world champion before making a key move on lap 7. Martin makes the move stick, running wide on the exit and prompting the Spaniard to receive a warning of the track’s limits. The title rivals were separated on the circuit by just 0.350s in what was shaping up to be a tense final race. Bagnaia continued to pile on the pressure at every corner in a dramatic finish to Saturday’s action.

No one could match Bastianini’s pace in the final lap, as the #23 cruised to victory in Thailand. Bastiani won by over a second from Martin.

Marc Marquez crossed the line in fourth place, after # 93 with some strong points, unable to match the speed of the top three. The eight-time world champion finished ahead of team-mate Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™). The Spaniard had to work hard in the closing laps, with Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) finishing a further 0.947s off in sixth place. Meanwhile, Bezecchi and Di Giannantonio continue their fierce battle to the line, with Binder taking ninth and the final point of the Sprint.
