The Malaysian capital hosted a spectacular launch of the 2026 season, full of fans, noise and headlines – from the riders to the players.
MotoGP descended on downtown Kuala Lumpur this weekend for an unforgettable season opener. Not just one, but two days of MotoGP came to an end in the Malaysian capital as an estimated 20,000 fans turned out to welcome their heroes to the event and a spectacular podium finish.
First, the official opening party held on Friday evening at the Permata Sapura Tower added some glitz and glamour—a spectacular view across the city. Fans greeted them on the red carpet before it was time for Paddock to suit up in a black tie suit and take off for the main event.
After riding the bikes around town all Friday, it was time to fire up the engines and take them out for a showdown on Saturday night. The rain before departure increased in intensity before the air settled and the engines began to warm up. As a team, the riders performed two shows – And added some efficiency. – When they go to the stage to greet the crowd.
The show started at 19:30 and the first bikes took off from 20:00 on the streets lined with fans. After each of the 2026 grid heroes made their appearance, award-winning band The Script took to the stage – adding performances from DJ PAWSA and Malaysian band DOLLA. The closing ceremony saw the riders sign off in style and join the script on stage for a final photo op.
