Three MotoGP rookies got their first taste of the fire-breathing Literbikes that make up the series’ premier race bikes, and several riders got their first ride on the new machines at the Barcelona post-2024 MotoGP test.

It was a tough start for the rookies as all three collided early in the morning as they started to catch up with the race bikes, which boasted double the horsepower of the Moto2 machines competing in 2024.

By midday, the three were bunched together at the bottom of the timesheets, ahead of Somkyat Chantra and I Ogura Fermin Aldegeir.

Pedro Acosta (37) has moved from the satellite GASGAS Tech3 team to the factory Red Bull KTM team.

Fermin Aldeguer (54) won the Ducati Desmosedici GP2

Aleix Espargaro (41) started his career as a test rider for Honda.

Enea Bastianini (23) has moved from the factory Ducati to the Tech3 KTM.

Marco Bezzecchi (72) left the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team to take on the factory Aprilia ride.

Somkiat Chantra (35) replaces Takaki Nakagami at the LCR Honda team.

Maverick Vinales (12) moved from the factory Aprilia to the Tech3 KTM team.

Miguel Oliveira (88) has moved from Trackhouse Racing’s Aprilia to Pramac Racing’s new Yamaha.

Ai Ogura (sitting on a scooter) is one of those that happened.

Jack Miller (43) got the other Pramac Yamaha ride. The team has selected experienced MotoGP racers for their first year with Yamaha.

Marc Marquez (93) sat in red for the factory Ducati team but was left with no sponsor decals on the bike. Contracts are complex things at the level of the eight-time world champion.
