On Monday, MotoGP teams prepared for the first test of the season with new machines and riders familiarizing themselves with new crews ahead of action at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
After winning the 2024 MotoGP World Championship with Ducati and George Martin, the Pramac Racing Team has entered their garage with the new Yamaha YZR-M1 models. Pramac switched to Yamaha for 2025, giving the Japanese company two more machines on the grid. This is expected to help the company and its two-bike factory team gather data and feedback as they try to improve their poor performance – the factory team did not score a single podium in 2024. After Sunday’s race, former world champion Fabio Quatararo praised the company’s renewed development efforts. “If we test the engine and if it’s better, we have it in the next race,” said Quatararo.
In a configuration similar to that seen on the 2024 factory team KTM RC16 racing bikes, the Pramac machines are dressed in an unpainted black fairing and feature new aerodynamics, especially on the side of the upper fairing.
Luigi “Gigi” Daliegna, general manager of Ducati Corse and engineer of the all-conquering Desmosedici machines that have dominated MotoGP for the past three seasons, appeared in Barcelona for a short news conference with the media. Dall’Igna says Ducati will remain competitive with six bikes on the grid in 2025, down from eight in 2024, but the main problem is Martin going to another company and the same for Innea (Bastianini). This is the difference between 2024 and 2025.
