George Martin secured pole position for Saturday’s MotoGP World Championship qualifying race at Phillip Island in Australia. Riding the Prima Pramac Racing Ducati Desmosedici, Martin clocked a 1:27.296 on the dry 2.76-mile (4.4 km) track.

George Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) delivered another magical lap at the Qatar Airways Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, clocking a 1:27.296. Martin finished Q2 with an impressive 0.594s advantage after charging late Mark Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™), improved on the final flying lap of the session, taking a front-row start in GP23. The eight-time world champion took the main position on the grid from his side Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) set a steady pace early in Q2 after the #12, giving Vinales a strong front row start.

Saturday’s action began in difficult conditions with Marc Marquez taking P1 after a 40-minute FP2 session as the track continued to dry after a wet morning – setting the stage for the top qualifying. Once Q1 started, it was drama from the start, with wet and slick Michelin tires fitted early in the session. Lap times fell as conditions improved, with Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing) Timing the attack to perfection and securing the Q2 position alongside Ine Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Group).
As Q2 clicked into gear, all 12 drivers opted for softer tyres, with Martin on track and on schedule as Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Fabio D’GiantantonioAn early crash came at Turn 1. Vinales soon became the winning rider at the end of the first run. Martin soon broke a new benchmark in the low 1:27 bracket to grab the pole position at Phillip Island.

Meanwhile, Marco Bezecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) leads the second grid line as the Italian is unable to break into the 1:27 bracket.
