It was Marc Marquez who won Friday’s MotoGP World Championship practice at Motorland Aragon in Spain. After leading Friday morning’s practice on the Michelin-equipped Gresini Ducati, Marquez returned in the afternoon to lap the adjusted 3.1-mile course in 1:45.801. Not only was he good enough to hold off the 22-rider field, he also broke Francesco Bagnaia’s all-time lap record of 2022 of 1:46.069.
Aprilia factory rider Aleix Espargaro finished second from the bottom in Friday morning’s practice and then finished second in Friday afternoon’s practice with a time of 1:46.073.
Espargaro’s team-mate Maverick Vinales finished third with a time of 1:46.117.
Jorge Martin on the Prima Pramac Racing Ducati turned fourth fastest with a 1:46.406.
Marquez’s teammate and younger brother, Alex Marquez, was fifth in 1:46.406.
Other riders who finished in the top 10 on Friday afternoon and secured their place in qualifying were two-time Lenovo Ducati and world champion Francesco Bagnaia (1:46.591), Martin’s team-mate Franco Morbidelli (1:46.705), Castrol LCR Honda’s Johannes. Zarco (1:46.732), and Trackhouse Racing teammates Raul Fernandez (1:46.840) and Miguel Oliveira (1:46.855).
