MotoGP: Engine list frozen for 2026


Ahead of the arrival of new bikes for 2027, the Grand Prix Commission has agreed to freeze specifications for the previous season.

Engine specification in MotoGP™ It will be frozen for 2026, which means factories will have to use their 2025 engine designs next season. The Grand Prix Commission approved the proposal to control costs and maintain as level a playing field as possible ahead of MotoGP.™ Changes to new bikes by 2027.

Those new bikes make MotoGP.™ More reliable, more durable and more impressive, and includes completely new engine specifications. A slowdown in current growth will allow manufacturers to focus on their new designs for 2027 before costs are all under control.

The only exception to the cold will be for safety or reliability, and may be permitted for any manufacturer in Level D. Corrections for safety or reliability, or the absence of components, may be permitted without an increase in performance for any manufacturer.

The engine specification does not apply to factories in Concession Level D unless they are reclassified. The specifications for them remain free as they are now, allowing them to continue working on key areas of their machines with high performance deficiencies.
