A post-race penalty changes the result as Acosta loses P3 and Bastianini steps up to claim bronze.
At the American Red Bull Grand Prix, the Tissot Sparks provided drama not only during the 10 laps, but also after the checkered flag.
Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Racing) first crossed the line in third place but was immediately penalized for breaching tire pressure regulations. After a review, he was found to have applied pressure below the permitted limit and was given an eight-second penalty after the race.
The sanction drops Acosta to eighth place, in promotion Ine Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) reached the final podium after initially finishing fourth.
The result marks Bastianini’s second Sprint podium with KTM and capped off an impressive weekend for the Italian. He will be looking to carry that momentum into Sunday’s main event at 15:00 (UTC -5).
