David Alonso takes pole position during Moto3 World Championship qualifying at the Sector de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. Riding his Valresa Aspar Group CFMOTO By Pirelli control wheels, the Colombian Lap time 1:45.905. Not only was it good enough to lead the field of 27 riders, but it was also good enough to eclipse his own 2024 all-time lap record of 1:46.111.
Colin Weger was the best remaining in the Leaky Molly Intact GP Husvarna with a 1:46.252 and Ivan Ortola took the third last place on the front row with a 1:46.276. MT Helms – MSI KTM.

David Alonso (CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team) secured pole position at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix Barcelona after posting an incredible 1:45.905. The Colombian took his seventh pole of the season and broke the lap record by 0.347s over Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), the Dutchman had a strong final run but failed to get into the bracket by 1:45. Weir improved on the last flying lap and will start with Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI), who got another front row start in the Séctor de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Practice 2 provided fireworks in the field’s last chance to secure a place in the top 14, with Ortola finishing fastest, improving on his time from Friday and finishing ahead of Alonso after the pair posted stunning late laps. It was an exciting start to Q1, with Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) taking the top spot in Q2 alongside Matteo Bertele (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team), Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) and Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets – MSI).
As Q2 clicked into gear, Alonso set a lap time of 1:46.026s – obliterating the lap record on the first flying lap. The Colombian continued to improve by becoming the first rider to enter the 1:45 bracket in the Moto3™ class. Everything remained unknown until the final race, with strategies at play in the closing minutes of the session and Weijer found more to jump to the front row – allowing Alonso to take pole position.

Angel Piqueras (Tiger Racing) starts from the second row of the grid, taking the fourth position on the grid. The #36 had a strong Saturday, claiming bragging rights as the top Honda rider. Piquerras will line up with Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GAASGAS Tech3) and SIC58 Squadra Corse’s Luca Lunette, the Italian continuing his impressive 2024 season.
Adrián Fernández (Tiger Racing) leads from the third row after the Spaniard suffered a crash late in Turn 5. Further back, Yamanaka will start from P15 on the grid, with work remaining in the #6 on Sunday.
