Philippe Salac was the man to win in Moto2 World Championship practice on Friday at Motegi, Japan. Czech topped Friday afternoon’s practice session with a new lap record time. Salak, riding the Pirelli-shod Elf Mark VDS Racing Team Calex, covered 2.9-miles (4.8 km) in 1’49.716, breaking Somkyat Chantran’s 2023 all-time lap record of 1’49.898.
Fanatic Racing’s Kalex rider Aaron Canet was also under the lap record of 1’49.762, but had to settle for second-best in the session.
Marcos RamÃrez was third in 1’49.811 on the sole supporter of the American Racing Team Calex. Teammate and fellow American Joe Roberts rounded out the top 9 with a 1’50.157.
