More from the MotoGP press release:

Arbolino leads Gonzalez for Friday’s Moto2 honors, Holgado in Q1. The Italian put Buriram’s woes behind him to lead the first Moto2 action in Brazil.

The battle lines were drawn on our opening day of the Goiania Moto2, led by Tony Arbolino (REDS Fantic Racing) and in a spectacular manner. Behind him, Buriram winner Manuel Gonzalez (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) and David Alonso (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) completed the top three on Friday in his four seasons. A wet but dry morning was followed by wind, with areas of rain but a generally dry run in the afternoon, reflecting Goiania’s unpredictability in the weather.

Many fresh names and faces made it straight into Q2 but it was Arbolino who surprised the most by scoring the run of the day. The Italian led the combined times as afternoon practice was the only dry track session, but Moto2 made the most of its evolution to lead the charge. Championship leader Gonzalez was close behind, 0.170cm off 14th, with Alonso rounding out the top three.

It’s fair to say that in an impressive performance and a repeat of his efforts in Thailand on Friday afternoon, Angel Piceras (QJ MOTOR – PONT GRUP – MSI) took top rookie honors in fourth place. Celestino Vitetti (HDR SPDRS Team) finished in the top six but suffered a late technical problem.

16-year-old Senna Agius (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) Notable names in top 14ThAron Canet (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) in 18Th and Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) in 20ThFighting for a day from Goiania on the stage of Buriram with the Spaniard. There was a late accident at Turn 13 for Zonta van Degorberg.
