Fermin Aldeguer led Moto2 World Championship practice on Friday afternoon at Phillip Island, Australia. Riding his Beta Tools SpeedUp Boscoscuro on Pirelli Control tires, the Spaniard lapped the 2.76-mile (4.44 km) road course in 1:32.718 to top the field of 27 riders.
Fastest this morning, Aaron Canet in the Fanatic Racing Calex was second-best with a time of 1:32.995.
Aldegar’s teammate Alonso Lopez was third fastest with a 1:33.025.
American Joe Roberts finished 21st in Friday afternoon’s practice with a best time of 1:34.880 in the sole supporter of American Racing Team Calex.

The #54 was fastest on the opening day of action in Australia, finishing ahead of Canet and Lopez.
It was a tough day for the Moto2™ field on a crucial weekend in the Qatar Airways Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, with Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Equipment Speedup) taking the top spot on Friday. It was an emotional day for the #54 as the track began to dry out during the 1st session of practice on Friday afternoon. Aldegar led Aaron Canet (Fantique Racing) by 0.277 after the #44’s impressive pace in the final three minutes – improving on the final flying lap. Meanwhile, Alonso Lopez brought his Beta Equipment SpeedUp machine to third with victory.
There was an extended 55-minute free practice session, wet conditions were used throughout and Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) set an impressive early pace of 1:41.620. There were difficult conditions, when Celestino Vitetti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) crashed at turn 4 and was later disqualified due to a broken collarbone. Once Practice 1 started, conditions improved throughout the session with Pirelli slip tires soon fitted and Aldeguer and Marcos Ramirez (OnlyFans American Racing Team) taking top honors. Then, as the clock ticked down, Aldeger improved with a fresh burst of momentum in the final five minutes.
Round of 16 winner Manuel Gonzalez (Gresini Moto2™) had a strong start to the weekend in fourth, ahead of Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team). The #96 was another rider who improved of late, with Tony Arbolino (Elf Mark VDS Racing Team) finishing the top five in sixth place. Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) took seventh in Practice 1, showing impressive speed despite a crash at Turn 4 on Friday morning. The #3 sits eight ahead of Gresini Moto2™’s Albert Arenas, with the Spaniard having set 20 laps in practice 1.
Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Izan Guevara (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) completed the top 10 positions at Phillip Island after an action-packed season. Back then, Diogo Moreira of the Italtrans Racing Team won the 11ThRamirez securing 12Th As the clock struck zero, #24 failed to get into the 1:33 bracket. Championship leader Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) was 13.ThThe final provisional Q2 position with Darren Binder (Leaky Molly Husqvarna Intact GP).
