Morrell’s raw power
Shields doesn’t know what round Morrell (11-0, 9 COs) KO Benavidez (29-0, 24 COs) will have, but he feels that it will happen because his power will be too much for him. Banavidez has similar ideas, thinking he will injure Morrell and score a knockout.
Morrell has always done well against fighters who came to him to exchange, and Benavidez was adapted for his style.
“I was calm, but I got a little worried about the exchange between Benavidez and Decubas Sr. It wasn’t about benavidez. It was more about Decubas Sr. I wanted to make sure he was in order, ”David Morrell said Fight Hub TVDuring the exchange between David Banavidez and his manager, Luis Decubas Sr., at Thursday’s last press conference.
“I don’t care if it decided or knocked out. What I care about is that I’m going to win, and I’ll be the one to come above. “
“He has to do both. You can’t fight benavidez in one way. You also have to fight him against his own game, ”Morrell coach Ronnie Shields said Sean Zittel About Morrell who has to fight to deteriorate and come forward against Benavidez.
Morrell has no choice but to box Brawl and Box benavidez if he wants to win or survive 12 rounds without striking. Benavidez is a pressure fighter. It’s in his DNA, and he won’t even allow a second in that battle. We have seen that in his last fight against the larger, stronger Oleksandr Gvozdyk on June 15 last year.
Benavidez constantly put the more powerful former WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Gvozdyk under pressure and made him move to prevent it from being stopped. Gvozdyk does not have the guest tank, the youth or willingness to stand or attack his land, which enables benavidez to win almost every round uninvolved.
“Just because he (Morrell) has 11 fights doesn’t mean you don’t have the experience of doing it,” Shields said when asked what happens when Benavidez Morrell wants to drag in the later rounds in deep waters. “That’s why we have the gym. That is why we practice for this thing every day. “
Morrell has the experience in the amateurs, but he has not fought anyone in the benefits like benavidez, and will place him under the gun for twelve grueling rounds. One way to handle Benavidez’s pressure is to go out early because he will be there to hit.
Morrell showed the power to beat fighters who have never been stopped in their careers. Benavidez has not fought anyone with the kind of power Morrell has, and he may fold as soon as he starts to hit the head and body.
Although he likes to call himself a ‘monster’, he is human, and his resume is thin on talented opposition. Morrell and his manager, Luis Decubas Sr., are right that Benavidez fought much older, smaller fighters with one foot at the door in the pension. His coach/father, Jose Banavidez Sr., has been well protected him all these years and selectively matched him to build his 29-0 record.
They hoped to convince Canelo Alvarez to fight against them, but he was not deceived. He saw the false record and was not deceived. This is the same as Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia did. Combat pluff -on -position, build a plastic record and then angle for a big payday against Canelo. It’s sneaking, but it works.
Morrell by KO, says Shields
“He will experience the power when he is near, and he will feel the power if Morrell is at a distance. So we feel that we have the benefit of both ways. I really believe that Morrell is going to knock him out. I don’t know when, and I don’t care when. It’s just my feeling that we’re going to beat him, ”says Shields.
Morrell can knock Benavidez out, but he will have to fight more aggressively than he did in his last battle against ‘Hot Rod’ Radivoje Kalajdzic for him to do so. In that fight, Morrell did not push enough and stayed at the top of Radivoje to get the knockout. He hurt himself several times, but did not go after him.
