The disease has forced Gael Monfils to give up his wild card into next week’s Rolex Paris Masters.
A two-time Paris finalist in 2009 and 2010, Monfils withdrew from his round of 16 match in Vienna due to illness and decided to relinquish his Paris wild card.
The Rolex Paris Masters is set for October 28-November 3 in Bercy.
The departure of the 38-year-old Monfils resulted in Arthur Rinderknech taking the wild card originally allocated to Monfils.

Rinderknech joins pWorld number 7 Richard Gasquet, who announced he will retire after Roland Garros 2025, will play Bercy for the 17th time, Adrian Mannarino and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard as one of four Frenchmen to receive a wild card in the main draw in Paris.
The French Tennis Federation says Monfils remains an alternative and could enter the main draw if other players withdraw.
