The Swedish pole vaulter and the American sprinter are receiving top honors from the world governing body, World Athletics.
World champions Mondo Duplantis and Sidney McLaughlin-Levron were named World Athletes of the Year in Monaco on Sunday (November 30).

Prior to being named the World Athlete of the Year, Duplantis was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Year and McLaughlin-Levron the Female Track Athlete of the Year.
Spain’s Maria Perez and Kenya’s Sebastian Save were confirmed as Sportsmen Away from the Stadium of the Year, while Kenya’s Emmanuel Vanyoni won the Sportsman of the Year and Australia’s Nicola Ollislagers the Sportswoman of the Year.

“The World Athletics Awards are a celebration of the best in our sport,” World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said at the awards ceremony.
“If there’s a motto for this year’s awards, it’s ‘for athletes, by athletes’, and tonight’s recipients will fittingly receive their awards from some of our most popular award winners.
“I would like to thank all the athletes present for their integral contribution to a memorable 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, the most covered and most commercially influential edition of our sport’s premier event in its history.”
