Monaco secured an emphatic 3-1 home win over Nantes, with Simon Adingra’s first-half brace proving decisive despite Aleksandr Golovin’s second-half red card.

Monaco hosted Nantes at the Stade Louis II on 13 February 2026, in a pivotal Ligue 1 encounter. Monaco entered the match in ninth place, aiming to climb the table. The visiting Nantes, fighting for the 16th place, desperately searched for points to escape the relegation zone.

The game ignited midway through the first half. Monaco broke the deadlock in the 25th minute as Simon Adingra found the back of the net with a precise finish to give the home side a deserved lead.

Just three minutes later, Adingra struck again. Aleksandr Golovin provided the assist, setting up Adingra to complete his quick-fire brace. Monaco’s offensive prowess overwhelmed Nantes.

The onslaught continued in the 30th minute as Denis Zakaria added a third goal for Monaco, with Golovin again providing the assist. The principality club raced into a huge 3-0 lead within five minutes.

Nantes, however, found some hope shortly before the break. Fabien Centonze scored a goal in the first minute of stoppage time, assisted by D. Machado. This gave the visitors a lifeline heading into the break.

The second half started with Nantes looking to capitalize on their goal at the end of the first half. Monaco needed to stay focused and manage their lead effectively. The match became more physical.

A major turning point came in the 65th minute. Monaco’s Aleksandr Golovin received two swift yellow cards for unsportsmanlike conduct, leading to a red card. Monaco were down to ten men and there was still an important spell to go.

Despite being a downed man, Monaco showed resilience. They managed the game well, absorbing the pressure from Nantes. Substitutions from both sides tried to disrupt the flow, with Monaco bringing on Ansu Fati and Nantes making multiple changes.

The remaining minutes saw several yellow cards as the intensity increased. Monaco’s J. Teze and Nantes’ Chidozie Awaziem and I. Sissoko have received cautions. Monaco’s defense held firm under increasing pressure.

Monaco finished the match with a total expected goals (xG) of 1.53, compared to Nantes’ 0.93. The home team registered 6 shots on target from 12 total attempts, while Nantes managed just 2 shots on target from 13. Nantes had slightly more possession with 53%.

This 3-1 win is a crucial result for Monaco, consolidating their position in mid-table. Nantes, meanwhile, face a continued fight against relegation, with little improvement in their form.
