Pakistan’s star opener Saim Ayub will be ruled out of the all-champions trophy campaign. A fresh update came from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi who claimed that he cannot risk his career based on just one tournament.
Ayub has been one of the best performers for Pakistan in the last few months. The youngster has played a key role in the top order in the formats where his team has won history in Australia and South Africa.
Pakistan was looking forward to the home champions trophy campaign where they aim to defend the title they won in 2017. However, his absence seriously hurts their chances as they tend to be short on quality openings.

MoHsin Naqvi eliminates Saim Ayub from the champions trophy
While talking to reporters, Mohsin Naqvi was asked about the status of Saim Ayub. The PCB chief admitted that he was in regular contact with the young man and confirmed that Ayub was undergoing rehabilitation.
“I am in touch with Saim (Ayub) on a daily basis. His rehabilitation is going on now and we hope to have his cast removed in a few days. After that, he will work towards his recovery,” he said. .
Speaking later on the 22-year-old’s recovery, Naqvi confirmed that Ayub’s future will not be without risk due to a single tournament and he will be given a whole period to recover.
“It will take time and I don’t want to risk his future because of a champion cup. I am watching everything in myself as we are and we hope that it will improve soon,” he said.

How was Saim Ayub injured?
Saim Ayub injured his right ankle while fielding on the first morning of the second Test of the series between South Africa and Pakistan. Ayub went with Aamer Jamal after one third ball after ball. Jamal’s ball bounced back as AYUB settled in as a relay fielder.
But he lost his balance and twisted his ankle. Ayub was seen in severe pain and lay down on the ground. Later, she was seen in her cubs, and it was confirmed that she had a fractured MRI.
