Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson earned a strange yellow card for trying and failing to stop Mohamed Salah, who went and scored the penalty for Liverpool anyway.
Salah’s goal from the spot gave the Reds the lead over the Blues in today’s big Premier League clash at Anfield, with Jackson heading into the box just before the Egypt international took home his effort.
It’s not entirely clear what Jackson thought would achieve this, but his game did him no favors and he only received a yellow card for his troubles, while Salah kept his cool and put the ball into the back of the net anyway .
Salah has been in excellent form for Liverpool this season and he continues that here today in this big game.
Jackson has also had a good start to the season, but has moments where maybe he loses his mind a littleand this was one of them.
Can Nicolas Jackson let his football do the talking?
Chelsea will now rely on Jackson as their main threat up front, so can he improve on his quiet display so far?
It doesn’t look easy for the visitors so far, with Liverpool deserving of their lead, as this youthful Chelsea side is perhaps slightly intimidated by this famous Anfield atmosphere.
If Jackson doesn’t come up with something soon, Enzo Maresca might want to bring in Christopher Nkunku, not a bad option to have on the bench.
For now, though, it’s Salah who’s had the last laugh here as he’s once again back to haunt his former club, who let him go without giving him much playing time as a youngster nearly a decade ago.
There was another notable yellow card early in the game, but it should have been red?
