MLB Insider Says 1 Team ‘Going Big’

The Toronto Blue Jays missed the postseason in 2024, finishing 74-88.

It was their first season since 2013 to finish last in the American League East, with their last division title coming in 2015.

The Blue Jays have recently made headlines for being involved in the signing of Juan Soto as they prepare for the 2025 season.

MLB insider Buster Olney revealed what he’s heard about the Blue Jays this offseason.

“They’re going to do something big,” Olney said via Foul Territory on “X.”

The AL East is arguably the best division in Major League Baseball, and the Blue Jays will need to make some strides to stay competitive with the likes of the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox.

Olney notes the Blue Jays’ involvement in the Soto sweepstakes, but he says he doesn’t believe Soto will end up signing with the team.

There are a lot of big names in this year’s free agent class, so even if the Blue Jays can’t get a deal done for Soto, there are plenty of other players they could go to.

Olney also notes that the Blue Jays reek of desperation, which is another reason he thinks the team will be aggressive this offseason.

Following AL Championship appearances in 2015 and 2016, the Blue Jays have only made the postseason three times, all of which have included them in the wild-card round.

The Blue Jays will be a team to watch this offseason as they try to keep up with their rivals in the AL East.
