Every golfer has OTHER USEFUL kind of swing bug which makes them hit inconsistent shots. The difference between OK players and really good players, however, is that the latter know how to correct problems more quickly, allowing them to rediscover their strong ball-striking tendencies.

But for a handicapper like myself, it can be a struggle to identify and correct common swing flaws.

After spending the last few days in Florida on a golf tripone thing I noticed in my swing was something simple: The better my cadence, the better my shot results, as it allows my alignment to be where it needs to be to avoid all kinds of problems.

I have a tendency to stick my chest out, which dips my head and can lead club towards the end. That’s why my lady is usually a fat one (or one piece).

So what’s an easy way to clean this up? GOLF Teacher to watch Devan Bonebrake says it’s a combination of pace and release, and shares a tip in the video below to help build better endurance. Check it out!

Correct your launch to improve your ball-striking

“This is something I see with a lot of my students,” Bonebrake begins the video. “Coming into the shot, their upper body takes over, they go too far forward and the club never reaches at all, so the chest is as much, if not more, around than the clubhead (after impact) .

When a player does this, it can cause a number of problems that lead to poor ball striking – from lack of clubface control to weight transfer issues.

But Bonebrake provides a quick and easy solution to avoid doing this.

“I want you to feel like the trail foot stays down, the club accelerates, and the chest stays in front of the ball a lot longer—almost like the clubhead has traveled a much greater distance than the chest,” he instructs.

Once you get a feel for the right way to roll, Bonebrake says to just randomly move the stick back and forth, feeling the release and making sure you’re rolling and not dipping your chest.

“So you can practice a few swings where you go back (on the backswing), and through, then back and again before you go up to the ball,” he adds. “Slowing my chest down a little at impact will make it much easier to let that club reach and swing, creating more of a full release and energy transfer.”
