After delivering an extremely entertaining first game, the public question is at a peak, as Fight fans are the successor between WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis and the WBA Super Featherweight World Champion Lamont Roach Jr.
The night of March 1, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the Davis vs Roach Bout slowly started, but when both fighters ended up in a rhythm, the action picked up. It was a close tactical match, but at the end of the 12-round competition, the three judges recorded it as a draw.
When the first time was announced, the hardcore box fans were not too impressed with the game because they felt Roach was a cherry choice. Accidental fans embraced the match mainly because of the Baltimore Washington DC racing. Champion Gerrvonta Davis is a native of Baltimore, and the challenger, Lamont Roach is from Washington DC
Normally, a typical Gevonta Davis struggle plays like the favorite movie you watch over and over. You know what’s going to happen, but you still enjoy watching it. Davis usually starts slowly because he takes time to download the data in the early rounds.
He continues to steal his opponent while applying intense pressure in the middle rounds, and then he stops his opponents in the later rounds. On the night of March 1, Lamont Roach refused to follow the screenplay. Roach fulfilled a boxer from the 90s who also went off the screenplay.
In November 1996, Mike Tyson defended his WBA heavyweight world title against the underdog Challenger Evander Holyfield. Everyone expected the knockout artist Mike Tyson Holyfield to stop, but unfortunately for Tyson his opponent did not get the memo.
On a frantic day, Evander Holyfield was ready and confident. Each time Tyson ended up a significant shot, Holyfield immediately made a reaction. Holyfield fought in the bag, earned Tyson’s respect and stop Tyson in the eleventh round.
In the re -broadcast, Tyson could not intimidate Holyfield and out of frustration, and he bit in the third round of Holyfield’s ear. After being warned and two points punished, Tyson disqualified after biting a second time from Holyfield’s ear.
Twenty-eight years later, when Lamont Roach walked into the square circle to resist the knockout artist Gervonta “Tank” Davis, most of the fighting fans accepted that Roach would sail early, but stopped in the later rounds.
Throughout the fight, Roach was ready, focused and confident. When the 5th round came to an end, Davis speaks as he throws three consecutive left hands. Roach replied by talking back and then landing several body shots.
Seconds later, while the two boxers were involved in a clinic, Davis lifted his right shoulder and hit Roach under the chin. Roach answered by beating Davis with a short right hand. At the middle of the tip of round 6, it appeared that Davis tried to bite Roach’s ear.
Intimidation was not a factor, as Roach regularly stood in the bag and traded with Davis. A critical non-call took place in the 9th when Davis took a knee, but the referee did not decide it as a knockout. As the attack ended, one judge recorded the attack (115-113) for Davis, and the other two judges scored the match (114-114).
Like Evander Holyfield, Lamont Roach was not being the underdog that came up against the intimidating knockout artist. The only difference was that Holyfield achieved victory, and Roach had to be satisfied with a draw.
However, since he did well and exceeded expectations, Lamont Roach must receive a Rematch against Gervonta Davis in the near future. At that point, the question of Lamont Roach is in the footsteps of Evander Holyfield and gets a signature victory over the world -renowned knockout artist?
