Since the LPGA began holding strokes with statistics in 2021, Minjee Lee has been one of the worst statistics on the tournament. Despite won two degrees before this season at the time, Lee was constantly sorted out of the first 120 and lost a half -stroke or more in the greens at each of the last three seasons.
This year is a very different story. Lee is the 8th in the LPGA tournament in the strokes won: setting and simply led the field to the category in KPMG PGA Championships as she won her third career title in great career last weekend.
The visible catalyst after the switch? Lee, a tall blade user, made the move to a 42 inches Odyssey AI-One Square 2 Square Nr. 7 broom Putter with the suggestion of her long coach, Ritchie Smith.
“We sat down after the end of last year, and maybe that’s an opportunity to try it and just to see what our feelings were,” Lee Golf told. “And of course, Ritchie, he was like,” I’m not an expert, but we’ll understand it together. “”
While the season was still closing, Lee and Smith initially set the idea in the back burn, but as soon as the offseason began, they decided to review it and Odyssey sent Lee a few different options to try.

It eventually began to become smooth with a no.7 shape from the new square line of square 2 of Odyssey (the correct putter is not yet available in a broom retail) and she began to flip both her gamer, as well as the head broomstick head to head.
“The first sessions, we were like,” Oh, the rotation is better in the broom, “said Lee.” And it was just more kind of trying to understand, which kind of control to use, especially with my right hand, because I was trying to get my hands really from hitting and using shoulders. “
Of course, finding the right fit to a broom can be a challenge. Unlike adapting to a conventional coercion or a counterbalance pattern, you do not exactly have the same feeling as with a broom. Your attitude is different, your control is different and therefore your feeling will be different. You are basically starting from scratch.
Lee said she found better success with shorter versions of a broom because the longer nails felt heavier.

“I was a little bored,” she said, laughing.
Six months later, she added a big win to what has already been a successful season and she is looking for more.
“The more I play the tour and the more I see they are getting in and the more work I do with the broom, I think I’m obviously gaining more and more confidence and producing better weeks and weeks outdoors,” Lee said. “I feel like I’m just getting a little more comfortable with the way it should work and I like a type of stroke to wear to have a clean roll.
“I just try to think of it as a new adventure, not something that is negative. I just wanted it to be something positive and something fun. Of course, if I’m doing well with it, it’s even better.”
