Mikel Arteta has warned Liverpool that his Arsenal side will not give up their fight in the Premier League title race.
Liverpool sit well at the top of the table, but Arsenal can move six points behind with victory over Brentford on Wednesday, although Liverpool still have a game in hand.
Although Arteta has made no secret that the title race is out of his hands, he warned Liverpool that any failure will be punished by his determined Gunners team.
“I don’t know (how difficult it will be to take Liverpool) and that’s not up to us,” he said. “We have to continue to be like a hammer, be there every day, every day, every day.
“And, I mean, if someone wins all the games, congratulate them and we’ll go to next season. But if not, which has never happened in history, we’ll be there.”
After coming up short in the last two title races, Arteta admitted his own arsenal The team must prove that they have what it takes to go one step further and get their hands on the trophy when all is said and done.
“Well, we’ll have to prove it,” he continued. “What we’ve already shown this season, and I’m sure if that had happened last season, playing the amount of games we played with ten men, all the injuries we had in the squad, for sure we were in the position we are in today in the competitions So the team has taken another step.
“The team is evolving and adapting to new circumstances. And now we have another one, which is more games with fewer players. So let’s recognize that.”
