Mike Tyson: “I feel kind of depressed”

Mike Tyson recently spoke Fox Sports about the mental rollercoaster he faced after his much talked about comeback fight. Despite claiming that “the payday wouldn’t change his life,” the legendary boxer admitted he felt “kind of depressed” once he lost the daily adrenaline rush of training. “That fight was such a big climb – we were so up and high, we were so excited,” Tyson revealed. “The fight is over, boom. Wow, I’m a little depressed. We need to get back into our life situation, back to life. We trained for nine months.” Hearing that level of honesty from a former heavyweight champion could tug at anyone’s heartstrings, especially considering how close he is to turning 60.

Adding to the post-fight story, the final stats from Tyson’s fight with social media sensation Jake Paul paint a vivid picture of the showdown. According to Fox SportsJake Paul landed 78 of 278 total shots, with 31 of 179 jabs connecting and 47 of 99 power shots hitting their mark. Tyson, on the other hand, landed 18 of 97 total punches, including 5 of 62 jabs and 13 of 35 power punches.

Shortly after the fight, Tyson hinted on social media that his time in the ring may be over for good. It’s heartbreaking to see him unable to fully enjoy his incredible performance, reminding us that sometimes the fiercest fights happen long after the final bell.
