Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron has learned that the Magpies have been trying to sell him for a year while the 30-year-old continues to fight for minutes at Parc de Sant Jaume.
The Paraguayan international has featured in five games for Eddie Howe’s side this season, amassing just 181 minutes of action. Almiron is no longer in English’s plans despite playing a big role over the past two seasons.
This has prompted the Premier League club to attempt to sell the winger, who has become a fan favorite at Newcastle since arriving in 2019 from Atlanta United.
Almiron was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in January and again in the summer Al-Shabab showed interest to the Premier League star.
Despite having a contract at Newcastle until 2026, the Paraguayan has learned that the English side have been trying to move him for a year, which may be affecting his performances.

Speaking of Almiron during his Q&A with Newcastle fans for The AthleticChris Waugh has claimed the winger has been aware of his unwanted status for a year.
“Almiron had a wonderful 2022/23 season, scoring 11 times, but apart from this season he has never managed more than four Premier League goals in a campaign,” Waugh replied to a fan.
“He made a positive impact off the bench against Everton, but had a summer disrupted by his participation in the Copa America, losing his starting place to a player already at the club, instead of a summer signing.
“The 30-year-old also knows that Newcastle have been open to selling him for a year, so that has surely affected his performances.”
