In Leicester, Mallory Park on January 25 was the definition of the Championship of Difference as the event avoided the much publicized storm that hit the country.
Kadar Omar and Olivia Mathias gave two senior lofts in the glorious winter sun and were held for the cross country working at the new location, which provided a test course with artificial debris and some mud to advertise the distances.
Men
Omar took the initiative from the start and his Birchfield Clubmate Omar Ahmed was never able to gain terms and his battle was in second place before securing the silver.
The start of all the races was downhill, something that was done for some Kamikaze, dealing especially with a few hooks that are a constant feature of the park. After the first small lap, Lobster was in front, but the run of one of those hooks was literally career falls down the hill almost losing his balance.
All went well after that, and the winning margin was 22 seconds. Ahmed was headed to another race by Gratton, albeit by just a few seconds was who, leading home fourth in Elliott Smith Rasmussen, bagged their creditable six.
The two firs men are often in their turn, but winner Omar said he moved from Birmingham to Rugley so he could train in pursuit of the move. “I had a rough year before the move, but I decided to put my foot down,” Omar said :
The Midland Masters Title went to M35 Gratton, the International Masters silver medallist, but M45 International Masters winner Alistair Watson was sixth overall. In that competition, multiple winner Tim Hartley was the best M55.

Women
Hand in hand with fellow Olympic triathlon champion Alexu, it was Commonwealth triathlon team silver medalist Olivia Mathias who pushed hard from the start. and champion champion champion steel.
Mathias’ victory was never in doubt despite losing steel in the Leicestershire County Championship.
In the last five years, Mathias had only run in live action once, but opted for a second tour when he realized the championship was held at MALLORY PARK. “I’ve spent many years doing triathlons here,” said the 26-year-old :
Although Mathias’ victory was assured, the Welsh international said he “thought to myself: I went too early.” No need to worry as the win was over 150 meters.
Steel, who admitted he had “no legs”, took the Midland Masters W35 title and Clubmate Juliet Potter, W40, was sixth.

Young athletes
Wreake & Soar Valley Club can count on quite a few medal winners and their Daniel Van Aardt comfortably took the junior men’s title despite Birchfield’s Ashes in Burgess.
However, it was Birchfield who took the team honors, but only two clubs managed to complete the top four.
Better was the under-17 men’s event, where four squads finished the race, with last year’s 15-year-old champion Archie Leigh finishing in a higher age group.
hotIt started so fast, so you had the wind and the hills, said the Leamington run.
Favorite Evan, the 1500m champion, took the 1500m champion despite his winning margin being just eight seconds all the way. “The battery was to sit, but I always want to have a bit of a lead,” said Burtony the run that can always use its finishing sprint if needed.
It was close as the under 13 boys event came to a close before Zach Roush won the duel and over little Heath in a multi-stroke race where, again, there were only two clubs.
Missing from the results were Wolverhampton & Bilston’s strong boys age group club.
The biggest win of the day came from the junior women’s race for Anna Blund, who had a winning margin of 66 seconds.
Grace Burge, winner of the under-17 women’s race, made her Stock Club town a team medalist, although she noted that it was “quite difficult in the mud and steep banks”.
No one could doubt the supremacy of functions of childbirth and 15-year-old girls, where they first packed their merit.
It was the footballing Langlands who chased the May Mullet completely, for a couple of clubs, and this despite falling in the second lap.
Ozhor also produced a champion as Hovseln Hetta won the youngest girls’ group race, under 13s.
