Michele Pirro has named the rider Luigi D’Aligna to look for in a future Ducati seat.

Luigi Dall’Igna and Ducati currently control four seats in MotoGP – two in the factory team, one in Gresini and one in VR46.

It is inevitable that Ducati will try to renew Marc Marquez’s contract. But they will wait to see if they can recover before deciding whether to keep Francesco Bagnaia.

Already under contract with Ducati, Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer is a strong contender to replace Bagnaia. After an impressive rookie season. But there will be high-profile foreign candidates for any vacancy.

Meanwhile, at VR46, Fabio Di Giantantonio may be fighting for his seat instead of chasing a promotion. Like teammate Franco Morbidelli, he was somewhat weaker in 2025.

Michel Pirro thinks Niccolò Bullega can be ‘great’ in MotoGP

In an interview with Corriere RomagnaDucati test rider Michel Pirro He was asked which ‘new rider’ he would suggest Ducati Bosses ‘for the future’.

Ducati is setting up a new academy hoping to develop the skills of those aged 16 and over. Pirro is concerned about Italy’s MotoGP prospects.Five years after the legendary Valentino Rossi retired.

But he is excited. Nicolo opens.Reigning champion Torak Razgatlioglu entered the year as the clear favorite for the World Superbikes title after his move to the Pramac MotoGP team.

Bulega, who filled in for the injured Marquez at the end of last season and scored points in both races, has joined the Ducati MotoGP test team in 2027.

“Unfortunately, apart from (Moto2 rider Luca) Lunetta and (Moto3 rider) Guido Pini, there are not many Italians,” Piro said. “Let’s hope the V2 Future Champ Academy can give us something.

“Bulega is coming, but he has to focus on Superbikes. If he does well in Superbikes, maybe in 2027 he will know Pirellis so he can have a good season in MotoGP.”

VR46 is the obvious destination for Bulega.who was part of Rossi’s rider academy when he competed in the lower Grand Prix. He still has a good relationship with the doctor.

Michel Pirro says the MotoGP race will be even more chaotic in 2027.

Dall’Igna hopes to use Bulegan’s experience with Pirelli tires from WSBK to guide Ducati’s development. A move to MotoGP could also give it an advantage over its rivals, which are used to Michelin rubber.

In fact, Piro thinks that the change of tires will have more impact than the modification of the technical regulations, although he expects that the suspension of the vehicle height devices will create more unexpected race starts.

“The bike will definitely be a little different, but I think the most important thing will be the tires,” he said. “They’re switching from Michelin to Pirelli, and I think that makes a big difference.

“It definitely mixes things up a little bit. The changes to the aerodynamics will do something. The launch will be less precise because we don’t have the ride height equipment, there will be more tires.”
