Former England captain Michael Vaughan has criticized India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir. Sharp response to Ricky Ponting’s comments on Virat Kohli. Former Australian captain Ponting pointed out Kohli’s recent struggles in Test cricket and Gambhir urged Ponting to focus on the Australian players instead of commenting on the Indian cricketers.
Vaughan exchanged views on the matter Club Prairie Fire podcast, calling Gambhir an “interesting” and “spicy” character, questioning his stance on the issue.

Vaughan disagreed with Gambhir’s comments and stressed that former players, regardless of nationality, have the right to analyze teams and players of other nationalities.
“I don’t like what Gambhir said about Ponting. There is no rule that says a former player cannot discuss or criticize another team. “Players like Matthew Hayden, who has spent a lot of time in India, have every right to talk about Indian players or their performances.” Vaughan noted.
He jokingly added: “According to Gambhir’s logic, I should stop commentating on Australia and go back to England, but that’s not how cricket works. The beauty of the game is in global perspectives and analysis of past players.”

Despite criticizing Gambhir’s reaction, Vaughan praised his fiery personality, calling it a valuable asset in his role as India’s head coach.
“I like Gautam Gambhir as a coach because he is spicy. He knows how to play mind games on the media and that is an essential skill in international cricket. His attitude favors the Indian camp and it is interesting to watch how he approaches such situations.” Vaughan added.

Turning his attention to her upcoming Border-Gavaskar TrophyVaughan warned Gambhir of the challenges India might face in the high-profile Test series against Australia.
“Things will not be easy for Gambhir in the Test series against Australia. The Aussies are in good form and if India lose a game, it will be fascinating to see how Gambhir reacts under pressure. His fiery nature may come into play, but this will be a true test of his leadership and coaching approach.” Vaughan warned.
