Michael Vaughan exposes India’s lie, shares candid thoughts on Australian media controversy with Ravindra Jadeja

Amid the controversy surrounding Ravindra Jadeja’s press conference ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, the former England captain Michael Vaughan With the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the entire episode can be easily avoided, he said.

During India’s first interaction with the media, the Australian press was disappointed when Ravindra Jadeja refused to answer in English, answering questions only in Hindi. The situation escalated when the BCCI media team told Australian journalists that the Indian athlete was in a hurry to catch a bus and could not respond in English.

Michael Vaughan says artificial intelligence could have prevented Ravindra Jadeja’s Melbourne press conference drama

This brought the press conference in Melbourne to an abrupt end, which did not sit well with Australian journalists, who reportedly continued filming even after being asked not to film after the conference ended. But things took a turn for the worse when Channel 7 aired a report accusing Ravindran Jadeja of “refusing” to answer in English.

In fact, the press conference was organized for the Indian media visiting Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25; hence the questions in the press conference were asked in Hindi and Jadeja is also more comfortable speaking in that language.

Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan has reacted to the issue by saying that if AI translation tools were used by the Australian media, the whole language fuss could have been avoided. He pointed out that there are AI systems capable of translating Hindi into English, which would have perfectly translated Jadeja’s answers into Australian English.

The former England captain also pointed out that while the translations were not perfect, they would have resolved the issue without adding unnecessary drama to the situation. Vaughan also criticized the Australian media for overstepping the bounds of Indian players by filming their families.

Michael Vaughan said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast: “India is a powerhouse. They clearly think that having cameras and filming families at the airport is a step too far. And this is the way they react. It adds more drama to me. There are AI systems that you can use to translate Hindi to Australian English.

So if they don’t want to speak English… Just put it in the system and it will come out as Australian English. You are just quoting Jadeja coming in AI. It may not be the same, but it will be very funny.”

The former England caddy has humorously applauded the Indian media manager’s treatment of the press in Australia. Vaughan quipped that the Indian cricket team didn’t even travel by bus, referring to the phrase “we’ve got a bus to catch” to avoid further questions from the Australian media.

The cricket expert also appreciated the intensity and drama surrounding the ongoing Test series It talks about the heated moments between India and Australia Muhammad Siraj‘s duel with Travis Head and the proceedings of Jadeja’s press conference. The Englishman also praised his firm, no-nonsense approach to dealing with the press, reflecting on past experiences with an Indian media manager in England.

Vaughan said, “I like a little bit of spice in the series. Mohammed Siraj vs. Travis Head…I like what Jadeja has done. I like the Indian side’s press service. The guy’s been there for a while. We’ve had problems with him in the UK. I just like the way he handles the press and they – We have a bus to catch.

“I don’t think they have buses. That’s a lie. I think they have cars. I’m sure they don’t ride a double-decker team bus. They have pretty cool cars.”
