Former Australian National Cricket Team player Michael Clarke has spoken about the tension between the Indian National Cricket Team and the Australian media in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that there is nothing to be surprised because the same things have happened in the past.
The Indian National Cricket Team is having some problems with the Australian media during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Players have been targeted by home media for not answering or responding to questions about the game.
It all started after Virat Kohli got involved in a heated conversation with Australian media personnel at the Melbourne airport. He was furious after the media filmed him without his permission and he beat up the officials.
Ravindra Jadeja then became a target as the all-rounder was accused of not answering questions in English. The versatile athlete briefly joined the press and had to leave as the team bus was leaving. This saw the Australian media create a huge issue.
They even had a heated argument with the Indian media manager, who boycotted a friendly with their Australian counterparts. They then accused the Indian team of deliberately sending Akash Deep to the media as the fast bowler could not speak English.

When Michael Clarke addressed the whole issue, he said that nothing has changed since the past. He pointed out how MS Dhoni did not go to the media at all during his visit and also showed how Sachin Tendulkar was restricted.
Michael Clarke added that India have already thought about how they will fare in Australia. Citing an example in this regard, he said how Gautam Gambhir had made it clear earlier with his pressure. Speaking on ESPN’s Around the Wicket, he explained:
“Honestly, I don’t think much has changed. I’ve had Indian teams come here and their captain MS Dhoni didn’t hold a single press conference during the entire Test series. So Sachin was very restrictive around him. When he chose to deal with the media, I think it’s been like this for a long time, i still love posting someone.
“I think they made it clear before they left India what they were going to do when they came to Australia. They will stick to themselves, stick to their plans. Gambhir made that very clear in his first press conference.”

Michael Clark added that there is nothing to be surprised about the situation. He claimed that India would not be bothered by the conversation at all. He elaborated:
“So I don’t know why anyone is surprised and for them it would be about what happened on the field and not off the field. So I don’t think the talk around it will bother India too much,” concluded Michael Clarke.
