After beating the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies as no-hitters, the Mets fell to the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.
The Mets will now prepare for the 2025 season as they begin making decisions before spring training.
A decision has been made on the Mets reliever, who will play six games during the 2024 postseason.
The Giants have waived their team option on right-handed reliever Phil Maton and will become a free agent, according to The Athletic’s Will Sammon.

Mathon is a veteran relief pitcher who entered the league in 2017 and has pitched for five different organizations.
After starting 2024 with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Mets acquired Matton in the midseason for a possible playoff run.
Matton appeared in 31 games for the Mets, where he had a 2.51 earned run average and 30 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.
Against the Dodgers in the NLCS, Mathon appeared in three games and threw 3.2 innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and three walks while striking out three.
The Mets are making their first NLCS appearance since losing the 2015 World Series and have proven they can make a run in the postseason.
In 2025, the Mets will try to win their first National League East title since 2015 and earn another shot at the World Series.
One name to watch this offseason is free agent Pete Alonso to see if he’ll be back in a Mets uniform in 2025.
