The duo’s 138-run stand for the seventh wicket not only saved Bangladesh from an innings defeat but also gave them a slim lead over South Africa. Jaker, who looked comfortable against the spin and pace attacks of the Proteas, fell to him in the end Keshav Maharaj, but by then Bangladesh had wiped out the deficit.

Rain disrupts play on Day 3
Rain interrupted play in the afternoon as Bangladesh aimed to build momentum, ending the innings at 267/7. Covers were brought, tea was served, Mehidi hit 77 Nayim Hasan 12.
