Both courses are world -class. This has long been consensus.
Now is the time to get accommodations up to Snuff.
Owners of Middle pines Inn & Golf Club and Pine needles Lodge & Golf Club – Misral Properties in Sandhills, North Carolina with a pair of renowned Donald Ross designs – announced this week that they have entered a joint venture with one of the key golf industry names in hospitality.
Under partnership with Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts, hotels between pine and pine needles will undergo great renovations. Golf operations will remain as they are, but Marine & Lawn will undertake the management of both hotels and their food and beverage programs.
“This is an initiative that comes out for our resorts,” said Kelly Miller, president and CEO of the group that owns Mid Pines and Gudles Pine, in a release that accompanied the news. “We need some time to improve our residential buildings as well as our food and drinks, and Marine & Lawn is an ideal partner for us.”
Among the thirsty players, there has never been a question about the quality of the courses between the pines and the pine needles, which are located in Southern Pines, NC, about 10 minutes east of Pinehurst Resort. Both properties were conceived in the 1920s, while the demand for Golf grew up in the Sandhills region, with Ross, a wonderful figure of the Golden Age, brought to treat the course models.
In 1953, Warren Bell and his wife Peggy Kirk BellA member of the LPGA Tour Statute began to operate pine needles. Six years later, the couple bought the property, which has remained in the family since then. In 1994, the bells took partners to get Mid Pines. The whole company is now owned by families Miller, McGowan and Tryrani, who also own Golf Club Southern PinesAnother design of ross, less than four miles away.
Over the years, middle pines and pine needles have been matches of 100 main listsWith the latter who had a particularly rich in tournament as the host of four US women and one elderly women in the US Open. In 2013, the middle points were subjected to a widely praised restoration by architect Kyle Franz, who did the same for pine needles four years later. Although Golf excelled, however, the accommodations on both properties remained in a state of suspended animation, embedded with charm returned, but were also shot with strange-Floorboard atmospheres that called on the Ghost guesthouses of “Scooby-Doo”.
None of these lost ownership. Over the years, Miller said, families have had conversations with many possible partners, always with the demand for families to remain involved and that any changes would respect the “history and tradition” of properties.
“Talking with potential partners over the past 10 years, almost everyone said,” We will remove it and build it again, “and you never know,” Miller said, referring to Mid Pines Inn, which was created by the marked architect Amar Embury II. “That hotel would not be destroyed at our family watch.”
At Marine & Lawn, Miller said the families had finally found the right partner, what specializes in iconic golf properties. A division of Aj Capital, which manages more than 5.4 billion dollars in real estate investment through the United States and the United Kingdom, Marine & Lawn has made its mark on the game by acquiring and restoring hotels near famous courses. A golf portfolio that began with rusacs St andrews has grown to include Marine North Berwick’s likes, and Marine Tron and Dornoch State in Scotland, along with two Marquee properties in Northern Ireland: Slive Donard near Royal County Down and Portrush Delphi, along with the 2025 Host Royal Royal Royal Royal Royal.
Partnership with Mid Pines and pine needles marks the first venture of the Marine & Lawn Hotel in the SH.BA renovation work will start this wall in the Mid Pines, which will close for six to eight months. Plans demand that golf operations continue uninterrupted during hotel renovations.
