Mayank Yadav will be among LSG’s top 3 keeps

Mayank Yadav He made his much-awaited debut for Team India in the first India vs Bangladesh T20I at Gwalior on Sunday (October 6).

The right-arm pacer has become an overnight sensation for his performances in this year’s Indian Premier League. Although he played only four games before suffering an abdominal injury, he was able to make a big impact with his pace.

Mayank Yadav has consistently impressed everyone with his ability to bowl over 150 kmph. He won the Player of the Match award in his first two games. The Lucknow Super Giants batsman also crossed 155 kmph several times during the race.

In just a few games, his impact was such that there were calls from several quarters to include him in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. But he was sidelined for months due to injury before finally making a comeback in the first T20I against Bangladesh.

Although Mayank Yadav hasn’t played a competitive game since this year’s IPL, the selectors have picked him in the squad. Not only this, the team management also supported the pace and gave him an opportunity to make his debut for Team India.

He made an immediate impact with the bat. In a format where new bowlers usually struggle, Mayank Yadav started bowling with a maiden. He was the only bowler to beat a maiden in that match. The right-arm pacer eventually finished the game with impressive figures of 1 for 21 from 4.

Mayank Yadav is set to win a huge IPL contract:

The match against Bangladesh not only marked Mayank Yadav’s arrival in international cricket but also boosted his chances of getting a big IPL contract. Lucknow Super Giants will now have to spend at least INR 11 crore (US$1.31 million) to retain the fast bowler for the next season.

As per the rules, any ‘uncapped player’ who makes his debut in international cricket in any format before the auctions will be recognized as a ‘capped player’. A franchise will have to spend at least INR 11 crores to retain a capped player.

The keep prices for closed players are INR 18 crore (No.1), INR 14 crore (No.2) and INR 11 crore (no.3). For holding numbers 4 and 5, the value will again go up to Rs INR crore and INR 14 crore respectively.

Given Mayank’s talent, potential and his performances so far, Lucknow Super Giants will retain his services. If that happens, the Lucknow-based outfit will have to give the pacer a million-dollar deal. If Lucknow decides to release Mayank, he could fetch a lucrative contract at the auction.

“There is no way LSG will put a rare bowler like Mayank back in the auction pool. They have invested in him for the last two seasons and he will surely be one of the top three catch list,” he said. .
