Mayacama’s cave is so good as it gets to Vino’s connoisseurs

While the Monterey Peninsula is for California golf, the Napa Valley is in California summer. it’s No more ultra, Grand Cruas the French would say. Although, thank you to no small measure for napa, oenophils have long been stopping Kowtow for all things Gallic. For those who find the biggest summer and golf pairing, Mayacama – a real estate community in Santa Rosa with a private rank course created by Jack Nicklaus – offers a glass that is not only complete but overcrowded.

Summer has been essential for Mayacama since its 1999 debut. Indeed, the club has a Vintner membership especially for summer owners.

“They provide the club with approximately an equivalent summer barrel a year at essential costs,” says Jonathan Wilhelm, Mayacama’s management partner, “and we pass those savings on prices.”

For many members, for Wilhelm, summer is at the same time as golf as the reason for joining Mayacama. To understand the centrality of summer as a convenience, consider the fact that there are more wine cupboards in the voluminous wine cave than there are golf closets in property – and about 75 percent of alcohol sales are Vino.

“This can be the only club I know where it is 90 degrees outside and members are choosing a red wine against a jeans and tonic,” says Wilhelm.

Today, more than three dozen of the world’s highest valued winemakers make up the Vintner members of Mayacama. The wine cave provides access to some of the best of the best everywhere, away, as well as local, with more than 500 choices: Cabernet in Chardonnay, Pinot Noir to Zinfandel. Its events range from an annual “der-al-Vintner”, which unites the club’s winemakers together for a great deal of cuisine and golf, until intimate dinners of Vintner and guest Chef; The first Friday of each month brings with it a complimentary taste that presents the wines of Mayacama members, as well as other local producers that the club considers interesting.

Says Wilhelm, “Sharing wine with friends and members creates a union of species that allows (all of us) to interact in a very personal way.”

To call it a cave seems not quite right when the mood lighting is perfect and one can eat his floors. Maybe “Spa Wine” felt a little higher.

It contains more than 500 different wines. “Sometimes we joke that we are either a golf club with a summer problem,” says Wilhelm, “or a wine club with a golf problem!”

Nicklaus’s appearance, rated among the best in Golden State, cleverly passes through the idyllic valley, with impressive oak trees often defining and protecting the holes.
