Cobra Puma Golf
Over the past few years, players making big moves among OEMs have been few and far between. But in the first week of 2025, rumors of a big move quickly came true on New Year’s Day for Cobra and Max Homa.
On Wednesday, Cobra Puma Golf announced the signing of Homa to a multi-year endorsement contract to play Cobra golf clubs and wear Puma golf shoes.
The deal came as somewhat of a shock before this week as Homa had been with Titleist and Footjoy since turning pro in 2013 and played their equipment during his standout college career at UCLA. As of Wednesday morning, Homa was still listed as an endorser of the golf ball on Titleist’s website.
But after a somewhat down year in 2024, where he failed to win on the PGA Tour for the first time since 2020 and fell to 41st in the Official World Golf Ranking, Homa attended a clinic earlier this week in Hawaii without any brand logo on his hat and bag.
Homa is now officially the face of an inclusive Tour staff Rickie FowlerLexi Thompson and Gary Woodland, among other PGA Tour winners.
“I am very excited to join the Cobra Puma Golf team. Equipment that is on the cutting edge of technology and the most comfortable footwear in the game is a great combination for any player,” Homa said in a release announcing the deal. “The Cobra Puma Golf brands are definitely a natural fit for the game, style and my personality and I look forward to a long-term relationship that will be fun and exciting for years to come.”
Homa was also photographed Tuesday playing practice rounds in Kapalua ahead of the start of the 2025 PGA Tour season at Sentry using the recently released Driver Cobra DS-ADAPT LS and working with Cobra Tour representative Ben Schomin. Homa looks set to play driver this week with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7-X me shaft FutureFit33 hose in C4 setting.
“Throughout the testing process with the Cobra Tour and R&D team, I’ve been extremely impressed with the performance of the clubs and I think they’ll really give me a competitive edge,” said Homa. “I love the look, sound and feel of the new DS-ADAPT driver, and the new FutureFit33 shell is a game-changer in terms of fine-tuning performance.”
The deal allows Homa some freedom to pick and choose some non-Cobra clubs — photos from Kapalua suggest he’ll still be playing with a Scotty Cameron hammer — but he’ll start the season with a pretty interesting mix of Cobra irons.
Homa will be using a Cobra Limit3D 4-iron and a King CB 5-iron along with a custom 6-PW set of 3D printed prototype irons. Details on the prototypes are scarce right now, but 3D printing is now enabling Cobra to produce sets of bars like never before.
“What the Cobra team was able to do with my personal set of 3D printed irons absolutely blew my mind,” said Homa.
Homa will also debut the new Puma Ignite Elevate 2 Tour golf shoe, which will be unveiled next week.
