Master Knockdown hit with ‘2-2-2’ method

In golf, there are moments when a high, flying blow simply won’t do. Whether you are hitting in the wind, navigating the branches of low hanging trees, or dealing with a fierce lie, sometimes you have to keep the ball low and controlled.

This is where Knockdown strikes. This reliable, lower trajectory stroke prioritizes the first contact of the ball and produces more around the landing, and with some keys you can master this useful stroke-and all you need to remember is “2-2”.

Back down 2 inches

To hit this stroke, you will need to make some adjustments in your configuration. The first is being plunged into the club. Because this shot uses a shorter rhythm, more compact, usually three -quarters in length, you don’t need the full length of the club. Downhill gives you better control and helps limit excess height to the ball.

I usually tell my students to catch about two inches when putting a knockdown kick – this is the first “2.”

Position of the ball back about 2 inches

Next, you will need to move the ball back to your stay with approximately two inches – this is the second “2”.

Shifting the ball position a little further, encourages a front -axle wickedness in Impact and Delofts Clubface. This promotes a lower release angle and helps the ball to stay under the wind, while also adding forwards to the ground.

The last “2” final is referring to your lead leg position. I want you to pull your front leg back about two inches, as this creates a slightly open posture. This change helps keep your weight and pressure before all the swing, which is essential to compress the ball and provide clean contacts.

With these three slight changes – grab down, the ball back, lead leg – you will have the foundation for a reliable knockdown kick. It is a great thing when conditions are difficult, and it is easy to practice and remember.

So the next time you face a solid head or a narrow shot window, don’t be afraid. Just remember Knockdown-and most importantly, remember “2-2-2”.
