Martin Odegaard gives injury update ahead of Liverpool clash

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is “working hard” to return to full fitness after missing his side’s last six Premier League games.

The Norwegian midfielder has not played for his club since the international break in September after suffering an ankle ligament injury while on duty with his country. He was ruled out of big games with rivals Tottenham Hotspur and reigning Premier League champions Manchester City and now looks Arsenal’s clash with league leaders Liverpool will be missed on sunday

It’s not all bad news though arsenal fans though The latest pattern update reveals it he is “near” to return to action and could be involved with the squad sooner rather than later.

“I’ve been out for a few weeks now and I’ve been working hard to get back as soon as possible,” Odegaard admitted. via the Arsenal website. “Like I said in my notes on Tuesday, I feel like it’s ready now, but even though I haven’t been in games lately, I think I’ve still been able to use that time really well.

“To be honest, my days haven’t been much different than before. I’m still at the training ground every day, and they’re long days too. I’m usually quite tired afterwards because I’ve been doing a lot of work with the big team medical and fitness that we have, and I’ve also spent a lot of time in the gym.

“I’ve also wanted to stay involved with what’s going on, so I’ve been going to the preparation meetings and getting involved a lot. But obviously the match days have been different, there’s been less travel, so I’ve been able to spend more time at home, getting significant rest periods, which has been good.

“Hopefully I can come out of this period fresher and stronger and ready for the rest of the season. That’s the goal now, to look at the positives and use this time in the right way. When I come back I’ll be. I feel great well, I’m sure.”

Arsenal will be the hosts Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday and will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
