The Miami Marlins missed the postseason in 2024, finishing with a record of 62 wins and 100 losses.
Since winning the World Series in 2003, the Marlins have only made the postseason twice in the last 21 seasons.
The Marlins lost three games by three digits for the third time in the last 12 seasons, and that led to them making a managerial change before the 2025 season.
Clayton McCullough was announced as the new Marlins manager, and Marlins President Peter Bendix revealed his thoughts on the hire.
“He fits what we’re looking for in a manager. The type of person he is is a direct fit with our culture,” Bendix said.

McCullough has never managed in MLB before, but he just won a World Series with the Dodgers as their first base coach, a position he holds through 2021.
Bendix appears to have a lot of confidence that McCullough will fit in perfectly with the Marlins and give them the best chance to get their team back to a competitive level.
The Marlins have two World Series titles in franchise history, in 1997 and 2003, but the team has not fared well since their last title.
McCullough will have his work cut out for him to get this team back to being competitive in the National League East, as they have not won a division title in team history.
The Marlins will look to take steps in the right direction in 2025, and they hope McCullough can lead their team’s rebuild in his first year as an MLB manager.
