Marc Cucurella issues a warning to the Chelsea board for Enzo Maresca

Marc Cucurella has asked the Chelsea hierarchy to give “stability” and “patience” to new coach Enzo Maresca.

The Blues have stumbled through two seasons under BlueCo ownership so far and enter the 2024/25 campaign with the fourth new manager of their tenure, following Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino.

Maresca has arrived from Leicester City to help train a young squad and implement a possession-based style of football. So far this season, Chelsea they lost to Manchester City and drew with Crystal Palace, but beat Wolves 6-2 away to secure qualification for the league stage of the UEFA Conference League.

Cucurella, now one of the senior and longest-serving players in the squad who has joined in 2022, has urged the board to give Maresca time and space to bring his vision to life.

“I’m happy, I think the coach we have is very good, he has very clear ideas”, said Cucurella while he was in the Spanish national team.

“We are coming from years of change of coach, let’s see if we can achieve stability without many changes and that the coach can convey his ideas.

“We need stability, we have high-level players, and I hope we can have that patience that is needed, that calmness, so that everything goes well. We have the level, we just need stability and let the coaches and players work to do something important.”

Chelsea is back Premier League action on September 14 with a trip to Bournemouth. They then travel to London rivals West Ham United before returning to Stamford Bridge to host League Two side Barrow in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
