Chances of witnessing a hole in one? Low.
Chances of winning a cash lottery prize? Low.
Odds of winning a lottery cash prize based on the hole-in-one numbers on the drawing day?
Maybe impossible? Until recently. The winner is also doing business as one of the luckiest people alive. That saying “you have to buy a lottery ticket” after doing something rare? It actually worked.
The news comes through the Maryland Lottery websiteand it was also shared through a written story BY Miami Herald’s Natalie Demaree. The actual name of the winner, according to the lottery website, was not released, but he is from Calvert County, Maryland; the winning ticket, which paid $151,210, was purchased at Dunkirk Fastop in Calvert County; and the draw, for the Powerball game, was held on December 21.
What about his numbers? According to the lottery website, he used 1, 17, 21 and 58 – and that’s where the hole-in-one comes into play.
1 was for the hole in one that a member of the man’s group made on drawing day.
17 was for the hole number.
21 was for hole-in-one day.
58 was a combination of carriage numbers – the man’s group had used carriages 5 and 8.
According to the website, the man matched four numbers, plus the Powerball number (which was not provided by the website), to win $50,000, then won an additional $100,000 due to a “multiplier.” An additional $1,200 came from matching four numbers (not including the Powerball number) on four more lines of his ticket, and another $10 was won thanks to a Double Play.
To wrap things up here, there are two additional pieces to share, via the website.
Surprisingly, the man said he planned to buy new clubs with the proceeds.
And amazingly, the lottery win was his second.
