Man Utd’s current squad could be the worst in the club’s 147-year history

Ruben Amorim has admitted that Manchester United’s current squad could be the worst in the club’s illustrious 147-year history.

Amorim was left scratching his head once again as United fell aa Defeat at home by 3-1 at bogey side Brighton & Hove Albion, just days after Amad Diallo had saved embarrassment against Southampton with a hat-trick at Old Trafford.

Goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter courtesy of a terrible mistake by Andre Onanacondemned United to a sixth home defeat this season, and Amorim made his feelings about the standard of players at his disposal clear when addressing the media after the game.

“In ten games Premier Leaguewe won two,” he said. “I know. Imagine what that means to a Manchester United fan. Imagine what that means to me. We have a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I am fully aware of it.

“I won’t change no matter what. I know we can succeed, but we have to survive this moment. I’m not naive. We have to survive now.

“We are perhaps the worst team in history Manchester United. I know you want headlines, but I say this because we need to recognize this and change it. Here you go: your headlines.”

“It’s hard to explain,” he continued: “We have to recognize the moment and not turn our backs on the problem. Everyone here underperforms, regardless of the circumstances. We’re underperforming and we have to accept that.

“It’s unacceptable to lose so many games for any club in the Premier League, imagine Manchester United. So it’s a very tough time but we have to go on, we have to go on, there’s no other way. We have to suffer and go on.

“Our players are very nervous and anxious. When you enter the last field you remember the last games here, if I feel it the players feel it a lot. The only way is to keep doing the same thing and win games.”

Amorim was expected to turn things around quickly at United following the sacking of Erik ten Hag in October, but the former Sporting CP manager has won just five of his 15 games in all competitions and n ‘he has lost thirst.
