The draw for the first phase of the reformatted 2024/25 Europa League has been completed, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers among the teams to find out their fate.
Like the Champions Leaguethe competition has undergone a makeover to get rid of the traditional group stage stage, replaced by a Swiss-style model that will see all 36 teams compete for knockout round qualification in an extended table.
The teams were placed in four pots, based on their different coefficient levels, and will now play eight matches decided by a supercomputer; the idea is to have more competitive matches before the competition.
Here’s how the draw played out for the three British teams, with the accompanying pot guide.
Pots for the Europa League stage draw
Manchester United have received the most favorable draw for the three British teams involved.
rangers will travel to Old Trafford as one of two teams in Pot 1 alongside Port – The Red Devils will need to head to Portugal and put in an impressive display to get a result.
PAOK came out of pot two, joined by Jose Mourinho, led Fenerbahçe – This should make for a very entertaining encounter when United travel to Turkey.
Bodo/Glimpse i FC Twente are the other two away to Manchester, with United’s campaign rounded off with away days Victory Pilsennormally a staple of Champions League groups in years past, and FCSB.
Man Utd’s eight confirmed league fixtures
TottenhamThe Europa League campaign will see them endure several testing days, especially when they travel to Ibrox to face each other. rangersrivals of Ange Postecoglou’s former employers Celtic.
Romepreviously managed by ex-Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, will head to North London as the other pot opponents, while AZ Alkmaar i Ferencvaros they are the two teams that came out of the second pot.
Karabakh i Elfsburg they are winnable games at home for Postecoglou’s team, but the trips Galatasaray i Hoffenheim they are less attractive.
Tottenham’s eight confirmed league fixtures
The Rangers have been dealt a heavy hand when it comes to pot one opponents, picking both Tottenham i Manchester United.

The first day will be divided into two days, September 25 and 26.
This will be followed by regular intervals of two to three weeks between matches, culminating in the eighth and final matches to be played on Thursday 30 January 2025.
