News transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has somewhat surprisingly claimed that there are currently no offers on the table for Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen despite recent rumors of a possible return to Ajax.
Eriksen hasn’t really lived up to expectations at Man Utd and an exit would make sense for the Denmark international this summer as he is unlikely to see much game time in Erik ten Hag’s side next season.
This has led to The Athletic reporting links to Eriksen’s former club Ajax, but Romano appears to have slightly different information, which he revealed to Caught offside for his last Daily briefing column
It remains to be seen whether things will change at the end of this summer, but for now Romano says United have no offers on the table for Eriksen, so the 32-year-old could end up proving a difficult player to offload.
Eriksen transfer: No offers yet for Man United midfielder
Eriksen may not be getting any younger, but he’s still a quality player and it would be a surprise if no one went for him when he seems so obviously available.
Still, that’s the situation at the moment, according to Romano, so this could end up being one of those sagas that go down to the wire.
“Although there is talk of a return to Ajax, so far I have no concrete updates on Eriksen,” Romano said.
“We’ve had a lot of rumours, but the reality is that Man United don’t have any proposals on the table yet, so we’ll see what happens in the next few days, but it’s calm now.”
Eriksen joined MUFC on a free transfer back in Ten Hag’s first season in charge in 2022/23, but the club would probably do well now to build around younger players and try something different after two slightly underwhelming campaigns.
