Manchester United has defended an increase in seasonal ticket prices for 2025/26, part of the club’s wider efforts to increase revenue and reduce costs.
Season ticket prices for all followers, except for 16 -year -old junior fans, will increase by 5%, a figure according to Arsenal and Liverpool rival clubs.
The Club Fans Advisory Board (FAB) was consulted before a decision was made and had “defended” the freezing of prices in the circumstances, as in the case of Tottenham Hotspur.
The FAB communication suggested that United expected to increase prices by more than 5%. Athletics He has revealed that the club initially sought to implement a much more intense 20% increase.
CEO Omar Berrada explained: “ We understand that any price increase is not desirable, especially during a period of low performance on the pitch, and we listened carefully to the strong arguments presented by the FAB in favor of a freezing. However, the club has decided that it would not be correct to keep prices unchanged while the costs increase and the club continues to face financial problems.
“We appreciate the faithful and patient support of our fans, and in particular to our seasonal tickets that represent the core of our support base.
“We understand the importance of their support for the team and we have worked hard to make a reasonable and fair price package. We have maintained the highest level of level and protected by our younger season headlines from any rise, while the club is still strong enough to invest in the improvement of the team.”
The increase has been strongly criticized in a statement from the Manchester United Supporters Trust (Must), which describe the news as “difficult to stomach” in the context of everything else.
“We acknowledge that Jim Ratcliffe has put money in the club, while also encounters fans. But although he is right that the club is in a terrible way and off the pitch, the idea that United has to obtain his financial home in order essentially during the night is an option.
“Our owners, and here we are looking for the Glazers, they put us in this position and they are the ones who should put their hands on their pockets to help us get away.
“The idea that fans should pay the GLAZERS property and mistakes above the thousands we already pay to faithfully follow the team is frankly offensive.”
In one more offer to increase income, United It is said that they have decided that the areas located by the household and the benches should be turned into premium hospitality seats. It means that existing seasonal ticket holders will be new seats elsewhere.
