Man Utd confirm deal for highly-rated youngster following Arsenal exit


Manchester United have confirmed that it is signed Highly rated young striker Chido Obi-Martin after leaving Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The 16-year-old’s schoolboy contract with the Gunners expired in the summer and it was reported United were exploring a possible deal for the record forward.

Obi Martin, who scored 32 goals in just 18 games for Arsenal’s Under-18s last season, he was also said to have been snapped up by the Red Devils after contact with the legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooywho is part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff at Old Trafford.

united they have now confirmed the teenager has joined the club’s first-year scholar pool alongside winger Samuel Lusale and right-back James Overy, both 17, who signed for Perth Glory and Crystal Palace respectively.

United’s academy director Nick Cox said: “We welcome Samuel Lusale, Chido Obi-Martin and James Overy to the club. All three young players will join our professional development phase as they adapt to life in Manchester and get to know their new team-mates of equipment

“It can be a difficult process for some players, while others fit right in. Whatever the scenario, our staff will be on hand to support these young lads and ensure their academy experience be overwhelmingly positive that it prepares them for life.

Denmark youth international Obi-Martin will enter United’s ‘career development phase’, where youngsters progress through the Under-18s and Under-21s in preparation for senior football.
