Manchester United are in talks with the agents of talented young left-back Diego Leon as they look to strengthen for the future.

The Red Devils are struggling at left-back at the moment after so many injury problems for both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, so it makes sense that this position is a priority for the club in the transfer market.

Still, León is thought to be signed with a long-term perspective, rather than someone ready to come in and challenge for a first-team place right away.

Man United see world-class Dan Ashworth replacement!

The 17-year-old looks like a huge talent and could be for the future, with Fabrizio Romano posting the following on X as he explains the current state of this deal…

Leon could move for around $4 million, which would be very cheap and could end up being smart business for the Premier League giants if he fulfills his potential.

The young Paraguayan will surely benefit from a move to a big club like United where he can enjoy the opportunity to work with high level coaches and in big facilities.

Will Manchester United also sign a more experienced left-back?

León may be an exciting target for MUFC, but they also surely have plans for a more proven left-back who could come in and make an impact right away.

Caught offside have been discussed previously United target Ben Chilwell and Alvaro Carrerasand one imagines that they would come to compete for a place before León might have a chance of promotion to the first team in a few years.

Still, it is important for United to improve their recruitment after years of overspending on some big names who ended up failing at Old Trafford, and often without much resale value.
