Man United will end up disappointed in their pursuit of Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies, while the Red Devils are eyeing the market for solutions to their left-back woes.

The role has been an issue for Erik ten Hag and Man United over the past two seasons due to Luke Shaw’s constant injury problems.

The England international is yet to play for the Manchester club in the 2024/25 campaign and has proved too unreliable to be the Red Devils’ starting left-back from next season.

The Dutch coach addressed the fitness of Shaw and Tyrell Malacia during his press conference on Friday, stating via Fabrizio Romano: “We cannot force their return. We have to do it smart.”

It remains to be seen when the full-backs will be able to play for Man United again, but this is a problem the Premier League giants do not want during the 2025/26 campaign.

The Manchester club have been keeping an eye on the transfer market and this week, Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany reported that United have joined the race for Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich with the Manchester club already gathered information about the Canadian star.

The 23-year-old is out of contract with the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season and talks over a new deal have so far not been planned.

Bayern hope to bring the Champions League-winning full-back back to the negotiating table before his current deal expires, but if not, he is a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Man United braced for Alphonso Davies disappointment

according to The MirrorMan United look set to miss out on Alphonso Davies, with a move to Real Madrid or staying at Bayern Munich the most likely outcomes for the winger’s future.

Real Madrid has been monitoring the Canadian’s situation in Germany for months and it is seen as favorites to sign the defender on a free transfer in 2025.

It’s easy to see why the left-back wants to join the La Liga champions as a super team is being built in the Spanish capital and Davies, alongside Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnoldthey could be the latest additions.
